About Us

Ecuadorian Family

Our humble family is on a journey from Ecuador to England to bring our culinary heritage to life in London’s Islington neighbourhood.

THE STORY OF EL INCA PLEBEYO

"Taking inspiration from Ecuador’s Indigenous peoples, El Inca Plebeyo aims to showcase the heart of Ecuadorian culture, with a modern twist. Meaning the humble Inca, it encompasses our belief that food should be delicious and be made by a skilled hand, but accessible to all.

Our food draws inspiration from Ecuador and is guided by Chef Jorge’s experience cooking in kitchens across Europe."

The Story of Chef Jorge

Chef Jorge Pacheco grew up on his family’s farm, but was never allowed to be in the kitchen with his mother cooking. Until he moved to Europe in 2000 he had never realised his love for cooking. Once in Europe, Chef Jorge worked his way into some of Europe’s best kitchens, including several Michelin-star restaurants.

El Inca Plebeyo is how he was able to start embracing his Ecuadorian heritage in a more rewarding way and bring a unique cultural cuisine to his new London home.
His love for Ecuadorian food is evident in each dish and even led to being shortlisted for the prestigious 2018 Gastronomes Award.

El Inca Plebeyo is also the only Ecuadorian restaurant ever to be listed in the distinguished The Good Food Guide 2020 of the best restaurants in the UK.

A Wealth of Ingredients

"Ecuador is a country of contrasts, a true reflection of the truly captivating and versatile South American continent. From the wild Pacific coast Ecuador quickly ascends into the Andean highlands with their fertile valleys and drops down into the lush Amazonian rainforest.

Each of these landscapes provides a wealth of flavours that Ecuadorians have taken full advantage of. Ecuadorian cuisine is rich and flavourful, each dish drawing from crops that each province specialises in. See how Chef Jorge showcases each flavour at El Inca Plebeyo."
